Pete Reeves came to Plymouth in 1985 whilst serving in the Royal Navy. After an accident at sea in 1992, he was left with a serious back injury and Pete had to reconsider his career.
Whilst waiting for an operation on his back, Pete worked in a dental laboratory using precision tools to make silver and gold castings and porcelain dentures.
This work uses the same tools as jewellery making and inspired Pete to develop and expand a profession in silver and gold jewellery.
Pete trained in Jewellery Design Crafts and also as a goldsmith and studied gemology. After graduating, Pete set up his own workshop at home in 1996, and set up in business as Jewellery by Design, marketing his work through local galleries.
At present, Pete’s jewellery is available to buy at the Artists’ Gallery and Studios at Hannah’s at Seale Hayne. Peter’s work is influenced by architecture, which is reflected in the clean lines and strong forms of the designs in his bracelet collection.
Pete enjoys sharing his jewellery making with others, through the use of workshops.
