Who we are
The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust is a charity based in Ivybridge, Devon that has been providing services to enrich and empower the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children and adults for nearly 260 years. Founded in 1767 it is one of the oldest charities in the UK. The original school was for the poor and unfortunate children of Plymouth. In 1925 Dame Hannahs opened one of the UK's first orthopaedic schools/hospitals in Ivybridge and in 1958 we were the first to open a school for children with Cerebral Palsy at our current site in Ivybridge. Today we provide care and support for adults with profound disabilities and complex medical needs.
What we do
Our service is unique as we offer a holistic approach through our multidisciplinary team which is located on site. This means that we are able to provide 24 hour on-site specialist support which includes Care and Nursing, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and a specialist Eating and Drinking Team. Our highly trained and dedicated staff enable those we support to live more independently within our specially adapted accommodation while we provide the best care and opportunities on offer in a homely and caring environment. At Dame Hannahs we enable our young people to grow and develop with confidence and freedom and to live life to the full.

April News
Over the last month we have all had a busy time celebrating Easter with a variety of fun activities as well as enjoying outings and welcoming visitors. Our Fundraising team are busier than ever planning events and supporting individual fundraisers.
Father and Son take on Cycle Challenge for Dame Hannahs
Dame Hannahs supporter Steve Roomes and his son Steve will be cycling from London to Paris to raise money for Dame Hannahs. The father and son duo are busy training for their challenge which will be taking place in June.
Spring Luncheon raises £1528 for Dame Hannahs
Dame Hannahs Charity Luncheon at the Elfordleigh Hotel raised a wonderful £1528 for the charity. Nearly 100 guests attended the event and enjoyed a delicious two course luncheon followed by a fascinating talk by ‘Agathologist’ Dr Mark Aldridge.
March News
Over the last month everyone has really put so much effort into celebrating particular days, birthdays and cultures and we have been delighted to welcome many of our families to Dame Hannahs to join in with these occassions.

With 2026 now well underway our residents have been enjoying a wide variety of activities, outings and celebrations. Despite the relentless rain everyone has been in good spirits. We have celebrated long standing members of staff and volunteers too.
