Ben White

Occupational Therapist

Ben has worked in the field of adult learning disabilities since 2009. He joined our Therapies team as the Occupational Therapist in 2022. Previously Ben has worked in a specialist college, residential care, day services, community learning disabilities, and for Combat Stress helping military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Ben’s role as an occupational therapist at Dame Hannahs has a broad area of responsibility which includes assessing sleeping, postural, social, and activities of daily living, needs and selecting suitable interventions such as prescribing specialist equipment, running therapy groups, or individual therapy strategies.

Ben grew up in the South Hams before joining the Army and serving for 8 years. Upon leaving the Army he settled in the Midlands and relocated back to the South Hams in 2022. In his spare time Ben coaches junior rugby and spends his time swimming and kayaking in the sea. Interesting facts are that Ben has cycle toured across Scandinavia and used to ski downhill competitively.

Speaking about his role at Dame Hannahs Ben said: “I’m passionate about helping adults who have learning disabilities and wanted to return to it, so when I moved back to Devon and saw this opportunity I applied. Now I’m proud to be a part of such an amazing and well established organisation. It really is a privilege to work here”.
