Lisa Williams

Shop Manager

Lisa is manager of our shop in Saltash. She started as a volunteer for Dame Hannahs in 2019 processing Gift Aid stock in our warehouse at Transit Way before being offered a job as Gift Aid donation sorter. She then progressed to the position of joint shop floor and warehouse manager. When the Transit Way operation closed, she was offered the job of Saltash shop manager.

Lisa’s main responsibilities are overseeing the shop, making sure it is fully stocked to be able to achieve sales, working closely with volunteers, supporting and nurturing them, and trying her best to make sure she achieves the yearly targets.

“Before joining Dame Hannahs I used to work at Plymouth University as an early years practitioner. I first heard about Dame Hannahs when I started coming into the Transit Way store with my husband who used to volunteer doing the online sales. Whilst waiting for him I could see the donations coming in thick and fast and could see how hard the staff were working to sort and stock the store, so thought I would offer my time whilst waiting and volunteered to help sort the donations. I knew I would like to help and make a difference.

In my role as shop manager, I love the customers, being the familiar face, having that little chat with them, making them smile. I feel it’s rewarding knowing some of my customers leave feeling a little happier as they come in for a look around. Sometimes we are the only ones they may speak to all day as they may live alone or not have any family. I feel a sense of achievement when reaching targets and seeing my volunteers grow in confidence. And it is really rewarding to know we are raising funds for disabled young adults and what a difference the funds make to their lives.”
