Rebecca Anderson

Speech and Language Therapist

Rebecca is one of our Speech and Language Therapists and works as part of our multi-disciplinary team supporting our adults with their communication and their eating, drinking and swallowing needs and providing training to staff when required.

She joined as a Speech and Language Therapist in September 2013 having worked for a short while in care. Prior to starting at Dame Hannahs she gained experience working as a speech and language assistant in a complex needs school and as a speech and language teaching assistant at a mainstream school.

As a Speech and Language Therapist here at Dame Hannahs, Rebecca has had a mixed caseload, supporting children in nurseries and mainstream schools with their communication as part of the outreach service, alongside working with the children at Dame Hannahs School prior to its closure. She completed her post graduate dysphagia course in 2019 and since then she has been based at Dame Hannahs, supporting the young people with their communication and dysphagia needs.

“I love working at Dame Hannahs and I enjoy hearing what people have to say! What are their choices, news, opinions? How are they feeling? They use a variety of different approaches, from facial expressions to using objects, symbols or photos, communication books, communication aids, Makaton signs or spoken words. It is so rewarding to see the adults communicate something completely of their own choosing, whether going to their trips page on their talker and asking to go to the cinema, or asking questions to others to start off a conversation. Let’s keep chatting!”
