Welcome Ben

Thursday 27 October 2022

This month we welcomed Ben White to our Therapies Team as the new Occupational Therapist. Ben is an OT who has worked in the care sector for many years. His previous roles include working for an NHS Community Learning Disabilities Team and for the charity Combat Stress where he helped military veterans who suffer with PTSD.

Ben grew up in Kingsbridge and attended Bicton College before working in Forestry for a while. He then joined the Army and worked all over the world. In 2005 Ben left the Army, got married and moved to the Midlands. Earlier this year he moved back to Devon and is enjoying be back in an area he knows so well and living near the sea.

In his spare time Ben volunteers with Kingsbridge Rugby Club where his son plays regularly. He comes from a rugby family and used to play for his Regiment and Corps in the Army. He also likes going on adventures and wild camping, and keeps himself fit going to the gym with his son. He has cycle toured across Scandinavia and used to ski downhill competitively. He was also involved in the NHS ‘Step into Health’ campaign to recruit military veterans.

Ben’s first impression of Dame Hannahs: “I’m really excited to be the new occupational therapist at such a well-known and respected organisation as Dame Hannahs. The staff I’ve met are so passionate about the people they are supporting here, and the facilities are fantastic. I’m looking forward to using my experience and ideas to add to Dame Hannahs’ brilliant therapy team”
